The Mercedes Benz 300SL was technically brilliant in nearly every way, from it’s pioneering use of fuel injection to it’s tubular space frame chassis. However it wasn’t initially offered in an open body style and all of it’s technical innovation did not come cheaply. Mercedes desperately needed a sports model that could satisfy the overwhelming demand from the average car buying public, and so the 190 SL was born.

The 190SL differed from its thoroughbred big brother the 300SL in many ways yet retained its peerless build quality. The four cylinder engine was designed less for competition but more for grand touring and boulevard cruising. This concept was an instant hit and the 190 SL became an overnight success.

This particular 190 SL spent most of its life enjoying the warm California sun, before being imported into Canada in 2014. Prior to importation the vehicle underwent a complete restoration and was refinished in DB 050 White over Red leather interior. The vehicle was purchased in October of 2018 by Coachwerks Restoration and underwent another extensive overhaul to bring it up the highest standards that are synonymous with the Coachwerks brand. The restoration team went through the Mercedes Benz comprehensively to make sure that it is not only mechanically perfect, but also leaving absolutely nothing to be desired in its flawless appearance.
