An enduring icon of 1960s Mercedes-Benz design, this 1970 280SL  is a handsome, well-kept example of one of Stuttgart’s most beloved silhouettes.

The W113 debuted at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show as the 230SL, replacing both the 190SL and the legendary 300SL with a single car that balanced genuine sporting ability with effortless grand touring refinement. Its distinctive concave hardtop, engineered by Béla Barényi to improve rollover protection without compromising the car’s elegant proportions, earned the model its Pagoda nickname. The 280SL arrived in December 1967 as the final evolution of the series, and its larger 2.8-litre fuel-injected inline-six brought more power and torque than the 230 and 250 that came before it, making it the most sought-after of the W113 family.

This example is finished in white over a blue interior and paired with the automatic transmission, a combination well suited to the 280SL’s relaxed, refined character. This is a wonderful driver-ready example that will keep you grinning through every top down mile.
